Best Books For Real Estate Agents (2018 must reads)

Real estate is easy, right?

Take a class, get a license, and start listing properties…

Despite what you might have read before getting into real estate, being a good real estate agent is HARD.

Why Books for Real Estate Agents?

It’s kind of strange, but there aren’t a lot of books out there for real estate agents. There is literally a different book for every single aspect of real estate investing, but very few books for real estate agents.

With so few books, there are few GOOD books for agents.

So, picking the best is hard.

But, real estate agents are essentially business owners. Just like you wouldn’t start up any other business without reading a ton about it first, you shouldn’t just go get your license and start without first reading.

Unfortunately, though, because it’s so cheap and easy to get a license and start, most people don’t put the time and energy into learning before starting.

Top business people across fields, read roughly 52 books a year – that’s one book per week! So, if you want to be at the top of your field, you need to start reading.

In my opinion, quantity is not as important as quality. So, I’m not writing another one of the “274 books you need to read to start your business.” This list consists of only essential books you could read to get you started asap.

1. The Millionaire Real Estate Agent

By Gary Keller

As one of the founding members of Keller Williams, Gary is one of the most influential real estate people ever born. I read this book when I first got into real estate and he truly lays out the exact blueprint you should use to start and grow your business as a real estate agent.

The advice in this book is truly timeless. Not only does he show you the fundamentals of getting started as a real estate agent, but he gives you the direction you need to grow your business. My favorite part is where he actually outlines what employees you should hire and at what stage in your business.

If you get this book and actually follow what is written, you will undoubtedly be a top producing agent and probably own your own brokerage one day.

The E-Myth Revisited

By Michael E. Gerber

The best thing about E-Myth is so many people credit it with taking their business to the next level.

Michael changes your perception of owning a small business and shows you what it truly can be. He uses some great stories to show you different pitfalls and also finds ways to help you grow your income.

By the end of the book, you’ll be finding ways to work less and earn more.

This book is important because as a Realtor or real estate agent, you need to start thinking about growing your business early. It’s easy for this business to take up more and more of your time until you just have no time left to grow.

3. How to Make it Big as a Real Estate Agent: The right systems and approaches to cut years off your learning curve and become successful in real estate.

By Mark Ferguson

Mark has been a Realtor for over 15 years and runs a sales team of 10 who have sold over 1,000 homes.

Mark has personally sold over 200 homes in one year and has been featured in the Washington Post, Yahoo, Zillow, Realtor.com, Realtor Magazine, Time, Trulia and many other major media outlets.

In this book Mark describes exactly how he has made it big in real estate and what to expect as a real estate agent. Mark breaks down how much money real estate agents can really make as well as how much work an agent will have to do.

There are many stories out there about how little money agents make and how they are on call at all hours. The truth is real estate can be a wonderful business if you treat it as a business and plan accordingly.
